TECH2MARKET - Space technologies benefit aeronautic industries
Nicolas Louée, Innovation Strategy Analyst, Tech2Market
In addition to outstanding knowledge acquired for humanity and science, space exploration and innovative technologies developed during space programmes benefit aeronautic. The range of non-space applications related to space technologies is huge and we can assume that 1 euro spent can make between 4 and 20 euros within next ten years. Tech2Market, french representative of the technology transfer programme of the European Space Agency, will present during this discussion different opportunities offered by the programme and will highlight last years’ most significant success stories.

WILLIAMS MULLENS - Aerospace Innovation: The american challenge for foreign suppliers
Eliot Norman, International Partner, Cabinet Williams Mullens
This presentation will discuss the Top 5 FAQ to consider when signing a contract with an American OEM or Tier 1.
Williams Mullens represents French and European aerospace companies establishing or expanding operations and business in the USA. We help you with the legal strategies that can accelerate your growth in the U.S. market. These include “smart” visa choices, , the correct legal structure for your subsidiary, use of Joint Ventures, Teaming Agreements, & M&A. Williams Mullen also advises on protection of Intellectual Property rights and minimizing risks for foreign suppliers when negotiating aerospace contracts.

SOLIDCREATIVITY : Agile project management and creativity method in aerospace
Pascal Jarry, Fonder of SolidCreativity (coaching and training in creativity and innovation since 2004)
This interactive workshop will present ASIT creativity method to generate innovative ideas, Agile project management strengths applied to R&T / R&D (not only IT) and combination of ASIT and Agile in a complete innovation process. Concrete examples in aerospace will be given.

CERMATEX-CRITT MPC: Innovation works about light aircraft wing, especially with the hollow box wing design
Anne-Sophie Andreani, FR&D project manager, Cermatex-Critt MPC
Cermatex - CRITT MPC lead the realization of electric aircraft prototype E-FAN wing for AIRBUS Group Innovation Works. We were in charge of design, sizing and destructive test for wing design validation by the Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile. The challenge was to design the lightest wing in composite material which is dismountable and which can support loads in aerobactic flight. The design of this wing is complex so several tools and manufacturing steps are necessary. By this experience, a new composite wing design is proposed : a hollow box design which can integrate several functions of wing. Its manufacturing process is one shot so the tools number, the assembly steps and the munufacturing time are reduced. In Cermatex-CRITT MPC, the main goal of studies is to build a predictive model of mechanical behavior of hollow box wing design in order to create a simplified model for the industrial groups. A destructive test will allow the validation of the design and the manufuacturing process of this wing by Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile.
- 14:00 – 14:30

ETH ZURICH – DIAMOUTILS - Pulsed laser ablation opens up new borders for the manufacturing of solid PCD tools
- Maximilian Warhanek, Researcher, ETH Zurich
- Jean-François Bucourt, President and Researcher, Diamoutils
This presentation covers the performance of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) micro tools produced using pulsed laser ablation (PLA) and an electro discharge grinding (EDG) process in the machining of ceramic matrix composites (CMC) and carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) used in aerospace applications. The wear of the primary cutting edges of the PCD are investigated and related to the cutting performance and durability of the tools for the selected workpiece materials.
- 14:00 – 16:00

AEROSPACE VALLEY – RESEARCH & INNOVATION: INTRODUCTION TO H2020 ESPACE PROGRAM FOR 2016-2017
- Laurent Francillout, Innovation Manager for Space Activities, Aerospace Valley
- Fabienne Daveran, European Desk Officer, H2020 National Contact Point for SMEs, Aerospace Valley
Launched by the European Commission late 2013, HORIZON 2020 is a vast program of Research, Development and Innovation, open to everyone and covering many topics. With a total budget of 77 billion euros, it will finance innovative projects through 2020, selected by a competitive process of calls for proposals. Space is represented in H2020 with a budget allocation of € 165M in 2016 and € 181 million in 2017. As H2020 Space National Contact Point, Aerospace Valley will present the various calls for proposals to be launched for the period 2016-2017. A focus will also be done on H2020 calls dedicated to SMEs.
